04/15/2016 UPDATE: WFO is hearing that both Super Gas (9.90 index) and Super Comp (8.90 index) will make 4 Wide time trials at the 4 Wide Nationals presented by Lowes Foods at zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC. Sources have indicated that eliminations will be run in the traditional 2 wide format. The WFO interview with zMAX General Manager, Christian Byrd, indicated the desire to run more categories 4 wide for NHRA fans. This would certainly fit that description, while also giving NHRA sportsman racers a unique thrill. Check out the player below to hear the original interview. Sources also indicated that Alcohol cars will run the traditional 2 Wide format.

On a recent episode of WFO Radio NHRA Nitro, zMAX Dragway General Manager, Christian Byrd, suggested something new for 2016, Byrd said, “We might run some alcohol cars 4 wide, we might try some other things.” The conversation comes up [7:30] into the interview with the subject of “additional” 4-wide categories.
